As we learn the ins and outs of streaming services, we hit a bit of a kerfuffle with Apple Music. They didn't like that a band called Pairanormals released an album titled “Zuzu's Petals Tonight At Martini's”. It seems perfectly reasonable to us, but what do we know?! It also seemed reasonable to YouTube and Spotify and Pandora and a bunch of others. But what do they know?! Ha. That's decidedly not normal!
The good news is that we deployed the feather smoothers and a little grease, and now “Tonight At Martini's” is officially available on Apple Music! Please enjoy responsibly.
In the meantime, we've been extremely busy in the studio. Currently working on more than a dozen brand new songs. Some of them are very close to “done” so we anticipate the next brand spanking new Pairanormals song will be released very (very) soon. And to tide you over, there are two more from the archives headed to your favorite streaming services right now.
"Gonna Be Fine" was recorded back in Vermont before we both headed south, so it's about high school age by now. It features some creative guitar layering - the rhythm guitar “chords” were actually recorded one note at a time to give it an airy feel.
“Breathe” is not new, but it is new-er, and can be credited with the (re)birth of Pairanormals. When we both left Vermont for Nashville and New Orleans, we stopped recording together for several years. Both of us had been playing with song ideas, but they lingered without being completed. Then one weekend a few years ago we got together, and during that visit we picked out this song to try to work on and finish. That project forced us to figure out how to continue our collaboration over long distance. Now that we have that process figured out, we're unstoppable! Don't even try!
So keep an eye out for all the latest releases, and don't forget to check back once in a while. We promise there'll be lots of new (and new to you) music to enjoy.
